銃弾を拾い、祈りを染める　琉球びんがたの記事がウェブ公開されました

琉球紅型の工房を訪ね、職人たちにお話を伺った取材記事がウェブでも公開されました。

戦後の混乱の中、「そこら中に転がっていた」銃弾や廃材を道具に変え、王族の衣装だった紅型を復興させた職人たち。苦難を力に変えてきた沖縄の精神が、今も城間家の手で受け継がれています。

I had the opportunity to write about the art and legacy of Ryukyuan Bingata, based on in-depth interviews with artisans in Okinawa.

In the aftermath of war, Ryukyuan artisans turned bullet casings and scrap records into tools—reviving Bingata, a sacred dyeing tradition once reserved for royalty.

This story of resilience, creativity, and cultural pride lives on through the Shiroma family’s legacy.
