陣羽織をまあるくファッショナブルに　きものやまと展示会

これ、素敵じゃない？　なんと、陣羽織なんですよ。

やまとの展示会なかでも最も楽しみにしているkimono by nadeshiko のデザイナー、金子茉由さんの作品。シャーリングを入れ、硬いシルエットの陣羽織に丸みを演出しているのがポイント。

丸みを入れたインスピレーション源は「アンパンマン」。飛行機の気圧が下がったとき、子供がいっせいに泣く。その時、CAさんたちが「さあ、アンパンマンとリンゴジュースを用意！」と動き始めたのがヒントになったという。アンパンマンの丸みは愛されるのだ、と。

ほかにも星をテーマにした作品や、作務衣のかわいいバージョンなど、盛りだくさんで、楽しい展示会でした。

若いデザイナーたちに自由な裁量を与えている矢嶋社長もすばらしいなと思う。

きもの文化を継承する鍵はひとえにこうした若い方のきもの愛であって、ルールではないのですよね。

Isn’t this wonderful? Believe it or not, it’s a Jinbaori!

This piece is by Mayu Kaneko, the designer of kimono by nadeshiko, one of the highlights I always look forward to at the Yamato exhibition. The key feature is the shirring, which softens the traditionally rigid silhouette of the Jinbaori, adding a rounded touch.

Her inspiration for incorporating this roundness? Anpanman. She recalled a moment on a plane when the cabin pressure dropped, causing all the children to start crying at once. The flight attendants immediately sprang into action, saying, “Alright, time to bring out Anpanman and apple juice!” That moment made her realize—Anpanman’s roundness is a symbol of comfort and love.

The exhibition was packed with other delightful pieces, including star-themed designs and an adorable version of samue (traditional workwear).

I also admire President Takayuki Yajima for giving young designers the freedom to explore and create.

After all, the key to preserving kimono culture lies in the love and passion of the younger generation, not rigid rules.
